Carbon Brushes
are available in all shapes and sizes, toleranced to suit
the needs of our customers. Carbon brushes used in the
equipment of high flying aircraft, wear rapidly unless
specially treated. The main cause for the rapid wear is the
low absolute humidity that can exist at altitudes above 5000
feet. Special blends of materials and adjuvants have been
developed to perform under these conditions. These specially
developed materials can operate in excess of 100,000 feet,
or even in space.
Dependant
upon grade of brush employed, shunts may be pressed into the
carbon during the moulding process, riveted or tamped with
graphite or metal powder. A wide variety of accessory
options are available, including custom designed compression
springs and welded or crimped & soldered terminations.
Where advanced warning of brush wear is required, a patented
device can be inserted into the brush carbon during
manufacture. To compliment our broad spectrum of brushes,
auxiliary components such as brush holder assemblies, slip
rings or commutators can be supplied separately or as a
complete package if so required.
Whether your application is a starter, alternator,
generator, auxiliary power unit, actuator, fuel pump,
servo-motor, propeller de-icer or satellite signal systems,
your Aero and Precision Brushes application Engineering team
is at your service. We have a comprehensive portfolio of
grades of material to cover all your application needs.
